Visits of the University of Duhok Delegation to Baghdad Universities
As part of efforts to strengthen academic relations and foster scientific cooperation, the Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine, accompanied by a delegation from the University of Duhok, visited Baghdad as an official guest of the Iraqi capital. The delegation was led by Prof. Dr. Dawood Suleiman Atroshi, President of the University of Duhok, accompanied by Prof. Dr. Luqman Hadi Hassan, Vice President of the University, along with a distinguished group of university council members, including Dr. Nizar Mohammed Amin, Director of the International Relations Department, as well as a number of faculty members from the University of Duhok.
The delegation was warmly received at:
- the University of Baghdad, led by Prof. Dr. Baha Ibrahim Ensaf;
- at Al-Mustansiriya University, led by Prof. Dr. Hamid Fadel Hussein Al-Tamimi;
- and at the University of Technology in Baghdad, led by Prof. Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Hassan Al-Ghaban,
along with several members of the university councils, senior professors, and administrative officials. During the three meetings, the hosts expressed their great pleasure at these visits, emphasizing their importance in strengthening ties between the University of Duhok and central universities and enhancing academic collaboration among higher education institutions in Iraq. The hosting institutions also praised the University of Duhok’s distinguished role in managing relationships and developing a roadmap for sustainable and evolving partnerships, serving as a model to be followed in the future.
During the meetings, discussions covered the structure of higher education in both the central region and the Kurdistan Region, as well as mechanisms to enhance academic standards through cooperation, integration, and the utilization of available resources. This includes activating research partnerships, increasing joint participation in academic events such as conferences, training workshops, and practical courses, and facilitating meaningful scientific exchanges among universities, including faculty members, researchers, and students. Additionally, memorandums of understanding were signed, covering the aforementioned topics and more.
At the conclusion of the visits to the three universities, the head of the visiting delegation expressed his deep gratitude to the university presidents and attendees for their warm hospitality and efforts in ensuring the success of the meetings. He reaffirmed his aspiration to expand cooperation between universities in the Kurdistan Region and those in the central region. He also stressed the importance of sustaining this partnership to contribute to the advancement of the higher education system and improve academic outcomes in accordance with global standards, through the implementation of quality assurance mechanisms and the achievement of the highest academic excellence.
