Visit of Veterinary Medicine Students to Spring Hopes Foundation: Strengthening University-Community Collaboration
On Sunday, December 1, 2024, students from the College of Veterinary Medicine visited the Spring Hopes Foundation as part of the "Third Mission" of the University of Duhok, which aims to enhance connections between the university and various community sectors to exchange expertise and explore opportunities for mutual collaboration.
The visit was organized in response to an official invitation from the foundation, following prior agreements with the college administration. Spring Hopes Foundation is a prominent organization in the region, known for its diverse activities, including establishing a field with a dedicated stable for horse care in the Shariya area.
The event aimed to familiarize students with the foundation’s services and the objectives behind creating this facility. The student delegation was accompanied by Dr. Ihsan Qadir Mohammed and Dr. Shivan Nawzad Hussein, who provided detailed explanations about horse breed management, care methods, behaviors, and the most common equine diseases, along with mechanisms for prevention and treatment.
This visit highlights the importance of collaboration between academic institutions and community organizations in enhancing students' practical knowledge and enriching their field experiences.
